Seventeen years old. Cant get a job! Any advice?

18 in June. Got my GED (which shouldnt matter considering I have 16 year old dropout friends getting $10ph jobs) I've turned in applications to atleast 30 different places in the last 2 months. People keep telling me to simply just call back these places...But call them and say what?
