Will taking ecstasy cause you to become more paranoid in your day to day life?

I took E for the first time in January and have since rolled about 5 or so times. I just rolled this past Friday and have been experiencing a large amount of paranoia in this following week. i'm unsure what to make of it, seeing as it comes and go's in intervals. I'll be fine and then one little thing will trigger me back into this dangerously uncomfortable state. i've already decided to stop taking ecstasy, but would like to know if this can be a direct result of my paranoia. could it have been a specific pill i took? or is it just the dependency beginning to kick in?
