Is he an ******** or am I being oversensitive?

So I went out with this guy who swears up and down that I'm the greatest thing he's ever met. We get along great, great conversations before we finally meet, great kissing ... but on our first date he must have mentioned a dozen times how bad he wanted to sleep with me. I'm 29 years old so I'm pretty wise to the whole game of guys telling you what you want to hear to get you into bed. I tell him it's not going to happen for AWHILE and he acts like I stepped on his puppy. Since when did sleeping with someone on the first date become a sign of your willingness and desire to move fwd in a relationship with somene? I don't get it. He hasn't called me in 2 days and I'm wondering if he's just a total ******** or if I'm being oversensitive? We talked every day for a wk up until this point and the date went great except for when I told him that I DIDN'T want to sleep over because I didn't want to be in a compromising position. It's not that I don't want to sleep with him, just not YET.
